13 companies presented themselves during "Members' Day":

- Succeeding with machine learning and AI is an interdisciplinary matter

On Thursday, Smart Innovation Norway organized "Members' day" for new partners in the business cluster in the Cluster for Applied AI . The aim was to get to know each other better, make contacts and build networks.

- I wanted to look at what the cluster can offer and what exciting collaboration opportunities there are, especially related to research projects and EU projects, says Tom Hansen, coordinator of the machine learning subject group at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), about why he made the trip to the Simulator center in Halden on Thursday.

He himself stood on stage and presented his foundation during "Members' Day" . NGI is Norway's leading geotechnical professional environment and is an international center for research and consultancy in engineering-related geosciences, with overseas offices in Houston, USA, and Perth, Australia.

- We work with everything to do with ground conditions, including landslides, landslides, tunneling, data collection of ground investigations, lab analyzes - everything related to building in the ground and establishing ground conditions, explains Hansen.

Will combine expertise

He can reveal that the day bore fruit and that it was particularly interesting to hear from the Institute of Energy Technology (IFE) and the other research institutions.

- I think it can be exciting to collaborate more closely with them. In addition, it was interesting to hear about the success rate Smart Innovation Norway has when it comes to landing EU research projects and what opportunities it provides, Hansen points out.

He adds:

- Succeeding with machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) is an interdisciplinary matter. We have a lot of data and some expertise in machine learning. We want to combine with other people's environments and work together, especially internationally, and that is why we are part of the business cluster.

Looking for new AI solutions

Christoffer André Nilsen (right) and Morten Hermanseter are both developers at Logiq AS, and represented their company during "Members' Day" in Halden.

- We want to find out about interesting solutions within AI, what kind of opportunities exist in the environment and how we can collaborate with other cluster partners, says Nilsen.

Logiq has offices in Halden, Oslo and Stockholm and delivers cloud-based solutions for handling business-critical data between its customers and their trading partners. Today, the company exchanges electronic invoices, orders, confirmations, catalog information and related trade documents in a global network of more than 100,000 companies.

- We are sitting on a lot of data, and it is relevant for us to bring in ideas and thoughts from other companies. See how they use AI and how we can angle it towards what we do. We will take that with us from here today, says Hermanseter.

Encourage people to meet

Project manager for Cluster for Applied AI, Marianne Jansson Bjerkman, is very satisfied with the day and the commitment from the participants.

- It has been a fantastically beautiful day. We have heard a lot from our cluster members and how they relate to the technology artificial intelligence, how they develop it, how they use it and how we can work together in the future to create even more innovation, she comments.

Bjerkman (pictured) says that more such gatherings will be arranged, where new members present themselves and get the opportunity to make contact with partners who can contribute with complimentary expertise and solutions.

- We know that if we get people to meet, the network will work much better. A lot will happen in the future. We organize breakfast meetings, we are part of Norway's business delegation to Sweden in May and we offer continuing education in collaboration with leading universities in Norway. I recommend everyone to check out these activities on our website , concludes the project manager.
